Puttiing aside popular musicians, sports stars and gifted people, the only way to acquire wealth through working for it is to build a business of your own. Be an entrepreneur! The type of business you decide upon will most likely depend on three factors:

  • How much money you have available for start-up and capital working capital;
  • Your business idea; and
  • Your confidence level.

Types of businesses at your disposal:

  1. The Traditional – a brick and mortar in which you will rely solely on your own efforts;
  2. The Franchise – where you follow a proven idea and receive considerable training and back-up from the franchise company; and
  3. Web Marketing – which encompasses Network Marketing, Multi-level Marketing and a whole slew of different niches you can explore.

Pros and cons of each business type

The traditional business requires considerable financial input, either from your own resources or part-funded by your bank. You may need to rent premises; buy equipment; hire staff; pay for advertising, brochures, stationery, and stock. A frighteningly high percentage of this type of business fails in the first year. To succeed you need: a good idea, considerable financial backing, good health, an understanding spouse, and stamina. If you do succeed you will own the business outright and benefit from all the profits.

Franchises have a high success rate. Banks like them because each franchise operation has a proven track record; thus the banks can accurately judge the risk and consequently will lend money for this kind of start-up. However, all the support and training comes at a price: the initial entrance fee is likely to be very high, and a percentage of the business’s turnover has to be paid to the franchise company.

Web marketing which encompasses Network Marketing, Multi-level Marketing, to name a few, has many advantages and few disadvantages. The entrance fee is low and the ongoing expenses are even lower. A Web marketing business can be started in your spare time. In fact, that is the best way to approach it. Start small, and keep at it. The secret is perseverance! Get past the first year and you should find this type of business has a sound foundation from which you can build a serious income. It is said that 95% of those who survive ten years in Web marketing become wealthy beyond their wildest expectations.

So which type of business is a good fit for you? If you wish to provide a service or product where you have previous experience from a former employment, the traditional business will be probably be the best choice. However, if you are just tired of working for someone else and making them rich and wish to venture out on your own, then a franchise or Web marketing business just might be the preferred option.

The choice then is determined chiefly by the funds you have access to, and the time and effort you wish to put into your enterprise. A franchise will require substantial funds and 100% commitment. You are jumping in at the deep end, although the franchise company will provide training and support to help keep you afloat.

On the other hand you can ease yourself gently into Web marketing by starting part-time while you continue with your current employment; building your business by throwing profits back into it if necessary. Persevere and there will come a time when the income from your own business will be sufficient to support you financially. You will then be able to leave your employment and concentrate on your business, which in turn will pay dividends. One such dividend (an important one) is enjoying considerable free time with your family.

First, my apologies to all regular Joes/Janes who may find the use of the name offensive.That having been said, let’s get back to the question posed. Can any Regular Joe Or Jane be a home business entrepreneur? I realize you may have a different opinion than mine about this subject; but let me first say that just like a candle lights up a room, this article was written with the intention of shedding a few rays of light on the subject of home business entrepreneurship.

So my answer is “YES” every one can be a home business entrepreneur. It does not matter where you are from or your level of education. Any average guy Or gal can start his/her home business and be an entrepreneur as a result. BUT, not every regular Joe Or Jane will maintain and grow an entrepreneurial home business. This is where many people fail.

What do you need in order to be asuccessful home business entrepreneur by maintinaing your business? You will need to have qualities for home business oriented people. Below are some of these qualities that will help you to maintain, grow and succeed in your entrepreneurial home business:

1-Home business entrepreneurs are careful about money. They always know how much money they have. They know the value and cost of things so they can recognize a real bargain when they see one. That is why they can maintain their home business.

2-Most home business entrepreneurs earned money when they were teenagers whether they were babysitting, mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, sacking groceries etc., they got their patience from those experiences that will help them grow their home business.

3- home business entrepreneurs are competitive by nature. Many were active in sports and other competitions in high school and college. Others were competitive in wanting to make good grades, earn the respect of their parents and teachers and achieve their goals. This quality is very important in a home business entrepreneur.

9- Home business entrepreneurs do set aside time for leisure activities and family. Their principal form of relaxation is their work, but they do realize the importance of downtime and spend time with their family.

10- Home business entrepreneurs don’t retire. They may sell or change their business, thinking they will retire, but they always jump back in with a new project or get a new idea that they just can’t ignore.

11-Successful home business entrepreneurs are professionals. Whether working from their bedroom, the kitchen table or a modern, well-appointed home office, they operate just as they would if they were in an expensive office building in a major city. When they are working, they don’t let outside influences distract them.

In general, successful home business entrepreneurs are people who have high energy; feel self-confident, set long-term goals, and view money and financial security as a measure of accomplishment and piece of mind. They persist in problem solving, risk taking and learning from failures (their own and from others). They take the initiative, accept personal responsibility and use all available resources to achieve their success. Successful home business entrepreneurs compete with themselves and believe that success or failure lies within their personal control or influence.
