Save Money to Save Your Future World

into your future

A good future for you and your family depends a lot on saving money today. It’s really that simple if you don’t want to take chances by treating your future like a card game which you can win or lose. Understanding that none of us can foresee what’s in store for our future, we must act as if we will be alive and well decades from now, and long after that; which means we must prepare for that future by saving money now.

Putting money aside is perhaps the most certain way to ensure that you make yourself able and ready for whatever big plans you have ahead, be it getting a new house, buying a car, sending a kid to college or even a grand vacation; but most importantly it can insure that your years of retirement are financially secure and enjoyable. Isn’t that what retirement is all about any way?

Methodologies

There are many ways to save money which can range from setting aside a portion of your monthly paycheck to avoiding the little spending – or big splurging – temptations for you that come your way ever so often. You know the ones I’m referring to: The latest model 50′ TV, instead of a more modest version; the Infinity or Lexus, when a Chevrolet or Ford will suffice; etc., etc. Make saving-for-the-future your goal and stick to it. In that vein we’ve prepared a few tips as outlined below which can be used to help you accomplish your saving goals and objectives. Involve your entire family

Family participation is important if you are to make your savings method as effective as it can possibly be. Meaning, you must find a way to incorporate your money saving plan into your way of life, so it is best that the effort to save be shared by everyone in the family.

Alternative efforts

Avoid driving – Unless you really have to drive, just take a walk or take the bus. Riding a bike can also be very good for your body. Have a car pool with friends if getting to your office or work place requires you to drive. You can also suggest doing errands together like trips to the grocery store.

Refrain from being taken in by the little temptations that may come your way. It is naturally fine to reward yourself after a hard work day every now and then, but do stay away from splurging. Cut back on your expenses.

Reduce energy use

Electricity – Turn off appliances that are not used. Turn the TV off if the show is not worth it. Close the refrigerator after getting what you need. Use lower wattage bulbs for rooms that do not need much lighting. These will definitely add more to your savings account!

Water – Check for any leaks in your pipes. Always make sure that the faucet is not dripping. Avoid long showers. Use a glass when brushing your teeth instead of leaving the faucet running; and if you prefer to use the faucet, turn it off while you’re in the act of brushing.

Gas – Have your car tuned up so you can save on gas. Get membership benefits also from stations. Fill up the tank when the prices go low. You can also do a research on gas saving cars if you have to purchase a new one. Turn off the air conditioning. If there is no need for that, simply keep the windows open. Enjoy the ride and the cool wind.

Ever heard of VOIP?

For your phone you can choose a provider that has savings plans especially for long-distance calls. In fact, if you have a computer and access to the Internet, make sure to contact a company that offers VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service. This will slash your telephone bill to less than 50% of your traditional land-line phone service. And if you have a cell phone neither a land-line nor VOIP service may be needed

You may not realized this before, but your household’s basic utilities can actually be your key to saving more money. This has a two-way benefit. You get to save some dollars for your family. You also contribute in addressing the energy crisis.

Prudence Says You Can Shop And Save Money Too!

The plastic lure

Can it be said that you have a casual relationship with your credit card? Is it your must-have carry-along when you go shopping, as some have opined? Can it even be said that your credit card is your best friend when you go happily shopping? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, it may be time for you to re-evaluate your relationship with that plastic temptation.

Considering the economic conditions these days, this plastic seems to be the least practical option for anyone serious about saving money. It is actually the most convenient tool used for consumption when you are out of cash. It lures you to spend, which is precisely the reason you should modify your relationship with it. You don’t have to totally break off the relationship, but be a little smarter and make it work to your advantage…

…Because there may be a few ways for your credit card to be useful in your saving endeavors. In fact, we have outlined in the following paragrsphs, a few methods that you can actually use to save money when using your credit card to shop.

Balance transfers = lower rates

If your present credit card has a high interest rate, you can transfer your balance to one with a low-interest or no-interest at all. It can offer you a 0% interest for a certain period and then a lower regular rate later on. A 15% interest rate can be transferred to one with 6%. The 9% difference means a lot, especially in the long run.

Look for one with the lowest rate of all to further maximize the use of a credit card. This definitely spells savings. If you do not have a balance yet, it is best to look for a card without annual fees. This is one way you can take extra precautions in assuring that the lowest interest rate is the best for you.

Make sure to factor in your buying habits. You may be attracted to the low rates, but the end result may not be desirable if annual fees and other hidden costs are attached to your bill.

Rewards program

Reward points system and cash back programs offered are also ways to get the most use out of your credit card for less. Simply put, these programs can save you money. Maintaining a low balance despite your frequent buys will give you at most 5% off on purchases.

There are even cash rebates up to 5% when you use the credit card at certain gas stations, convenience stores and groceries. This can be automatically applied to your bill, which results in more savings you will be realizing.

Maximizing the experience

To reap the rewards, you must avoid the drawbacks. Let prudence be your guide because the prudent person will definitely look for the best deals and grab them right away but with some caution. Thus the necessity to read the details.

Check the fees that may be charged and the penalty rates in case you delay. This may be the downside of the deal offered to you. For example, be careful of cash advance features of credit cards. Some of them can be very expensive. They can come with numerous fees and higher rates. So be wary! Spending cannot be avoided at times. Just don’t forget your goal of getting a good deal to save.
