  • Google AdSense Can Enhance Affiliates’ Earnings

    Why Affiliate Marketing?

Are you a webmaster who needs funds to keep your website running? Or is your website the only way for you to increase your earnings? Whichever category you identify yourself with, for as long as you are a webmaster or a web publisher and you need cash, affiliate marketing may work well for you. With affiliate marketing you may get a lot of cash pouring into your bank account as easily as some of the successful affiliate marketers, or it might be a little more difficult; but if your website is rich in great content and you want to earn money, why not get into the Google AdSense program as well?

Put simply, affiliate marketing is among the easiest – and probably – best ways to earn money online unless, of course, you own a business and would rather sell your own products online instead of advertise products and services owned by other businesses… on your website. But even online retailers can benefit from affiliate marketing programs, because affiliate marketing actually works for merchants as well as it works for the affiliates.

Affiliate marketing, simply stated, is a relationship or agreement made between two websites, with one site being the merchant’s website and the other being the affiliate’s site. In this relationship the affiliate agrees to let the merchant advertise his/her products on the affiliate’s site. The merchant, in turn, would agree to pay the affiliate in whatever method they have agreed into when affiliate-generated sales of the merchants product/service are made.

    About affiliate compensation

This would generally mean easy income for the affiliate as s/he would do nothing but place the merchant’s ads on his/her site. This would also be very beneficial for the merchant, as getting affiliates to advertise their products would be a lot more affordable than hiring an advertising firm to promote those products.

There are a variety of methods on how the merchant would compensate the affiliate for his services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translates to the method by which he would earn easy cash. Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method.

The pay-per-click method is the method most preferred by affiliates, for their site’s visitor would only have to visit the advertiser’s site for them to gain money. The other two methods, on the other hand, are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.

Getting much profit on affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method as it does on the traffic generated by your site – if you are the affiliate. A website that can attract more visitors would generally have the greater chance of profiting in affiliate marketing programs.

    What about Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is actually some sort of an affiliate marketing program. In Google AdSense, Google act as the intermediary between the affiliates and the merchants. The merchant, or the advertiser, would simply sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products. These ads, which is actually a link to the advertiser’s website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the affiliates, or by those webmasters who have signed up with the Google AdSense program.

While one can find a lot of similarities between Google AdSense and other affiliate marketing programs, you can also see a lot of differences. In Google AdSense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest. The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be relevant to the content of your site. This would be advantageous both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be actually interested with the products being advertised.

The Google AdSense program compensates the affiliate in a pay-per-click basis. The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this amount to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount. Google AdSense checks are usually delivered monthly. Also, the Google AdSense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the earnings you actually get from a certain ad.

    The end game!
A primary business tool on hold

So, where do all of these lead us to? – Where else but to profits, profits and even more profits! Affiliate marketing programs and the Google AdSense program simply work, whether you are the merchant or the affiliate. For the merchant’s side, a lot of money can be saved if advertising effort is concentrated on affiliate marketing rather than on dealing with advertising firms.

For the webmaster, you can easily gain a lot of profits just by doing what you do best, and that is by creating websites. And if you combine all your profits from both the Google AdSense program and other affiliate marketing programs, it would surely convert to a large amount of cash.

  • Finding Hot, Best-Selling Products to Promote

    Finding suitable inventory

In order to locate the best selling products on the Web, we need to know what people already want to buy, and understand why such products are selling faster than other similar products. Learning what others consider to be a good choice of presentation or product is most often accompanied by researching and analyzing the demand for that product in the then current market, as well as the level of competition or market share (competitive edge) such a product will have in the long run.

Thus the questions: “What should I sell?” and “What products are hot and selling fast?”

These questions are asked most frequently by marketers trying to find an answer to them in order to make definite and informed decisions; but if we really want to know the answer to such questions, our smartest choice would be to do some research. There are all kinds of complexities that may lead an individual (marketer or product creator) to believe s/he has a high in-demand idea; and among these complexities is being able to understand and satisfy the need, wants and expectations of consumers as they relate to products they may want to buy.

    Study consumer signals

Think of these customer signals as their basic needs or minimum requirements that must be present in any purchase, since needs are the basic reasons consumers usually look to purchase a product or service in the first place. These needs are also referred to as “qualifying” or “gatekeeper” dimensions in a purchase. Wants are also determining factors in many choices; and expectations can be thought of in terms of values or intangibles associated with a product or service.

Expectations are actually part of “wants” but they become extremely important when products or services are not differentiated. For example, in reading a logic book, university students look for the following: Relevant logic concepts, use of simple language, easy to understand and affordable prices. Similar ideas can be applied to Internet sales as well, keeping in mind that the Internet is just another place to sell products. The basic concept of demand is the same in this marketplace as it is anywhere else, and is unlikely to change.

    The market share

That having been said, let’s take a look at another concept which must be considered in finding “hot” products to sell. The level of competition or market share your product will have once it is conceived, created (manufactured?) and made ready for marketing. Market share or level of competition can be translated to mean: the ratio of your brand sales versus the total market sales.

While companies would naturally define its target competitors, it is actually consumers who ultimately decide the competitive frame, or the list related products or services that they consider when exercising their purchasing power. We must therefore choose the market segment in which we can have assume a leadership position, or at least pose a strong challenge to the existing leader.

It is important to understand that the overriding objective for getting into the affiliate marketing business is not simply to satisfy the needs and wants of customers, but to do so while profiting at a better rate than the competition. Otherwise, our competition will end up satisfying our customers better than we can, thereby capturing – or continuing to capture and maintain greater market share.

    product interest

Third factor to be considered in finding hot best selling products is learning what the general interest level in the product is. General interest in a product helps us marketers to gauge where our demand and competition numbers fall in the big picture. Simply saying, if there isn’t much demand for a given product, or there isn’t much competition, would seem to give one the idea it might not be good to put the product up for sale.

However, the research doesn’t stop since there is one last factor to be considered in order to more precisely find those hot selling products being sought. We must also learn how others are advertising those products; and if there is a good number of them doing so, it may mean that it’s a good product to promote and sell. Coming to the last phase of the process is analyzing and evaluating all the information that has been collected.

    Factors to measure
    Give it all you got

We have to look at all of the data we’ve collected on demand, competition, and advertising; and then make a decision as how they all balance out. So here are several factors and aspects that must be measured:

    • Not enough demand means not enough people are going to buy;
    • Too much competition means not enough of a profit to go around
    • Too much advertising drives up the price of pay per click ads, and competition as well
    • Not enough general interest, combined with low demand, means there may not be a good market even if there is competition trying to make the sales.

  • First Steps Towards Your Own Web Entrepreneurship

    First steps: Choosing the business

When starting an Web-based business there are a few things you should consider must-have requirements.

    1. Business Name – Domain
    2. Web Hosting
    3. Advertising (Marketing) Budget
    4. Web Marketing Tools

Among the most important requirements when starting your Web-based business is the business name. Since you will also need a domain name to make it possible for Web users to find your business, it will serve you well if you can get a domain name that is the same as, or very similar to your business name. Reason being, in the case of a Web-based business, your website IS your business; so having a domain name and business name that is the same will improve your marketing and optimization efforts.

Web Hosting is to your Web-based business as commercial space is to your offline (brick and mortar) business. You need a space in which to operate, where your customers can come and visit your store, look around, browse and perhaps make a purchase. Web Hosting provides that space for your web-based business. The Web Hosting company may be viewed as similar to your offline – retail space – landlord. They both provide the space from which you operate your business, making it a must-have requirement.

    Exposure for your business

Now that you have your business/domain name and your Web hosting, you’re going to need exposure for your business. This aspect of your Web-based business can also be compared to an offline – brick and mortar – business in that advertising is essential to the success or failure of the brick and mortar and is even a more crucial element to your Web-based business because you would not have the benefit of “walk-in” traffic with a Web-based entity. So you must have an advertising and marketing budget.

In order to be as proficient in marketing your Web-based business – as you must assume your competitor is – you will need a Web marketing toolkit consisting of the kind of Web marketing tools you’re most comfortable with to facilitate your marketing campaigns. This is an area in which you will find several options. Web marketing tools you will be able to choose from include (it’s assumed that you’ll have a computer and internet connection):

    • Website/Blog
    • Lead Capture Software
    • Autoresponder
    • Video Producer
    • Web Conferencing
    • WYSIWYG or Other HTML Editor

You will also have at your disposal a number of Web marketing methods, techniques and resources that are proven to get results based on prior use by many successful and well established Web business owners who came before you. Types of marketing I refer to are:

    • Content Creation (Article Marketing)
    • Social Media Marketing (Social Networking)
    • Copywriting (Salesletter Composition)
    • PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Campaigns
    • Traffic Exchange Surfing
    • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

    Profitability: The ultimate goal

Some of these methods you may not be familiar with in the early days of your Web-based business. However, you will always have the option of hiring someone who is an expert in one of these areas to do a professional job for you, which is why an “advertising and marketing” budget is among your must-have requirements.

After you’ve put together the best combination of your must-haves, Web marketing tools and types of marketing you intend to utilize, you can then decide whether or not you want to do most of the work, hire professionals to do the work or automate – as much as possible – your Web-based business so as to reduce your workload.

Let’s not forget what may be the most important element of your Web-based business. It must be Profitable! You may requireme that the business have the potential to generate at least $1,000 per month in profit, so as to replace the income from your job, thus making your Web-based business your full time job.

Only you will know the amount of revenue you want your Web-based business to generate. Once you’ve set a monetary goal and your other must-have requirements are in place, you can be off to the best start expected of any Web-based entity. Good Luck!

  • What Makes Entrepreneurs – Who They Are?

Over the years countless institutions and individuals have asked the million dollar question. What makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur? What traits or characteristics are inherent to a successful entrepreneur and is one born with those traits? There’s great news! Successful entrepreneurs are born every day!

Some people believe an entrepreneur is born while others believe an entrepreneur can be taught. Some believe an entrepreneur is like an artist – either you have it or do you don’t. Some see entrepreneurs as leaders that are focused, disciplined, competitive, and charismatic, while others see them as huge risk takers. And all of these analogies are right to some degree.

It’s true all successful entrepreneurs share a few qualities and skills that allow them to be successful. These inherent qualities can be taught; but they often seem to be an inherent driving force that sends individuals down the path of being in business or formally training for a career in business.

Entrepreneurs see the world differently. They have the ability to see the world as a system. They have the ability to see something in its entirety and as an integrated unit, and they seem to possess the ability to see opportunity within the global picture. They are what is called a system thinker.

There are other characteristics they possess. Entrepreneurs possess an overpowering need to achieve and tend to be very competitive against themselves. They are continuously trying to outthink themselves and others and they are constantly looking for the edge. This is a process that occurs as naturally as breathing and is a driving force behind most entrepreneurs.

They have the determination and dedication to follow through with commitments and they always appear confident and in control. You’ll notice they also possess a positive aura. They are of the mindset “I can,” and “I will.” They are not afraid of failure because failure is not in their vocabulary nor is it an option.

They are objective but have the ability to weigh risks realistically within the big picture. They have an uncanny ability to anticipate developments which gives them the edge on many competitive situations. Entrepreneurs seem to feel right from their gut, call it instinct. They are a resourceful group that possess excellent problem-solving skills and are able to diligently work through obstacles as they occur.

Entrepreneurs are excellent communicators and recognize how important clear and concise communication is to their success. They also possess a sound working knowledge of the business they are involved in.

When it comes to successful entrepreneurs it’s a question of what came first, the chicken or the egg. Is it inherent qualities that entrepreneurs are born with, or is it that we choose to become entrepreneurs we therefore develop the skills and qualities of success? That’s a question we shall leave to the great debaters to resolve.

What is for certain is that successful entrepreneurs are born every day and that you too can be a successful entrepreneur by developing the skills needed for success.

  • Women Entrepreneurs Prove It’s Not Just A Man’s World

    The she factor

I recently read an article about women entrepreneurs and their performance as it relates to their male counterparts. I must admit that what I learned, although not shockingly surprised, was in many ways very enlightening and I’d like to share some of it with you.

According to the Center For Women’s Business Research there are over 10 million women-owned businesses in the US, employing 18 million people and generating $2.32 trillion in sales. Women start businesses at two times the rate of men, and women-owned businesses account for 28 percent of all businesses in the United States and represent about 775,000 new startups per year and account for 55% of new startups at the time of this writing.

One thing that I found particularly interesting was that the top growth industries for women-owned businesses in recent years were construction, wholesale trade, transportation/communications, agribusiness and manufacturing, industries traditionally dominated by men.

    Trust. Intuition. Balance.

In the past 25 years the number of women-owned firms in the US has doubled, employment has increased four-fold and their revenues have risen five-fold. Here is the question I sought particularly to answer: Do women approach business differently than men? I’ve been compared to a bull in a china shop when it comes to business. Would a female counterpart approach things differently? More gracefully, perhaps? As my lovely bride would say, “Duh.”

In her book, How to Run Your Business Like a Girl, Elizabeth Cogswell Baskin explored common female traits and how women entrepreneurs – and perhaps men, as well – can use those traits to their entrepreneurial advantage. Baskin reported that women tend to use three unique strengths more than their male counterparts: trusting their intuition, focusing on relationships, and putting more emphasis on keeping their life in balance.

Trust your gut – Women are much more likely to make a decision based on a gut feeling. Women may gather the facts and figures necessary to back up that feeling, but they generally know what they want to do based on intuition.

Build strong relationships – Men play the game of business like a sport. They are out to win and dominate. “Women,” Baskin says, “are much more interested in establishing a connection.”

Find A Balance Between Work and Life – A number of women interviewed for this book cited on quality of life as their reason for starting a business, alluding to their desire to find a way to juggle family and work. “If having more time for your family is important to you, find a way to work that into your day. It’s not so much how much work you do, but being able to decide when you’ll do it.”

    Good advice

Baskin offers one more piece of advice to women in the early stages of their business:

You Don’t Have To Know Everything.

My wife would argue this point because she really does know everything, but Baskin says when it comes to business, thinking you know everything is not the key to success.

“It’s amazing how many women say they didn’t know anything when they started their business,” Baskin said.

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help – you don’t have to be perfect at everything.”

Solid business advice: for guys and gals.

    Here’s to your success!

  • Defining Success Of The Home Business Entrepreneur

    Confidence

Studies have shown that successful entrepreneurs and home business owners possess certain characteristics, the most important of which might be confidence in themselves or, simply, self confidence.

So the question many would-be entrepreneurs may have to ask themselves is, do I have self-confidence? This kind of self-confidence refers to the magical power of having confidence in yourself and in your strengths and abilities. We’re not talking about bravado or blind and reckless daring, but an unshakeable belief in yourself.

    Achievement oriented

Results are gained by focused and sustained effort so if you, as an aspiring entrepreneur, concentrate on achieving a specific goal and not just accomplishing a string of unrelated tasks then you probably have an above average chance of achieving success. But here is another question you may have to contemplate during your planning. Are you a risk taker?

There is a chance of loss inherent in pursuing any goal, yet you have the confidence necessary to take calculated risks to achieve your goals. So which of these three main characteristics is the most important? Believe it or not, it is self-confidence.

Without self-confidence, nothing else is possible. If you don’t believe in your abilities, then the first challenge that arises may knock you off the path to achieving your goals. Here are a few things to keep in mind for maintaining a higher level of self-confidence.

    Positive thinking

It all starts with a positive attitude! Believing that something good will happen is the first step. Negative thinking is just not allowed (so stop it right now). You must truly believe that there are no circumstances hard enough to deter you from reaching your goals.

Try the exercise created by Og Mandino, author of The Greatest Salesman In The World – every morning for 30 days repeat the reading of one chapter of your favorite motivational book. If you don’t have one go out and buy The Greatest Salesman In The World. It’ll run you about $3.50 at Amazon.com. You might be surprised at the results this simple exercise will produce!

Remember too, that positive thinking can be contagious. When positive thinking spreads, it can open doors to new ideas, customers, friends, etc.

    Persistent action

All the positive thinking and believing in the world is useless if it is not applied towards a goal. You have to take action, no excuses allowed. This action must also be persistent. Trying once and then giving up is not going to be enough. Keep at it one step at a time. If you can’t get by a certain step, then find a creative way to try again or go around it.

Entrepreneurs are people who make decisions, they take action and control their own destinies. They are often motivated by a spirit of independence which leads them to believe that their success depends on raw effort and hard work, not luck.

As Ronald Regan pointed out: Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.

Look ahead and see yourself where you want to be, maintain a strong belief in yourself and your skills, stick with it, and never give up. If you can do that, you’re already half way there!

We’ll leave you with a couple of quotes from Sir Winston Churchill (1874 – 1965):
“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.”
“For myself I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else.”
