Quickly Boosting Your Affiliate Commissions

In an ideal affiliate marketing world affiliates having their own website is really not a requirement; nor are they required to deal directly with customers, issue refunds, or handle product development and maintenance. Affiliate marketing is truly one of the easiest ways to launch an online business and earn profits by promoting and selling other people’s products/services.

Assuming you are already in an affiliate program, however, what would be the next thing you would want to do? Double or even triple your commissions, right? So the question is how exactly do you accomplish this? In an effort to address these questions in the best possible way, we’ve put together what we believe to be a few proven and powerful techniques on how affiliates who utilize them can boost their commissions almost overnight.

1. Seek out the best programs and products to promote. Obviously you would want to promote a program that will enable you to achieve maximum profits in the shortest period of time. However, there are several factors to consider in selecting such a program; factors such as choosing those which offer generous commission structure.

Your ideal program should also have products that fit in with your target audience, and can demonstrate a solid track record of paying their affiliate forthrightly and on time. If you join an affiliate program and find there is no prospects of increasing your investments, then you should simply dump that program and keep looking until you find better ones.

There are thousands of affiliate programs online which allows an affiliate to be choosy – or even more importantly – to be selective; and when you select the best affiliate program(s), you’ll find that you can also conserve your own advertising dollars because conversions are easier to come by.

Write free reports or short eBooks to distribute from your site. It’s entirely possible that you will be competing with other affiliates who are promoting the same program, so if you start writing short reports related to the product you are promoting, you will be able to distinguish yourself from other affiliates.

In your reports, you could provide some valuable information for free. If possible include a few recommendations on best uses of a particular product, its unique features and – in some cases – your own personal use of that product. With eBooks you get credibility, and customers will realize that you provide value via such reports and recommendations and will therefore be enticed to try what you are offering.

2. Collect and save the email addresses of those who download your free eBooks. It is a known fact that people do not make a purchase on the first solicitation, so you may want to send out your message more than six times (at least seven times) to make a sale.

This is the simple reason why you should collect and save the contact information of those who downloaded your reports and ebooks. You can make follow-ups on these contacts to remind them to make a purchase from you.

Make sure to get the contact information of your prospects before sending them to the vendor’s website. Keep in mind that you are providing free advertisement for the product owners, and you get paid only when you make a sale; so if you send prospects directly to the websites of your vendors/merchants, chances are they would be lost to you forever.

Of course, when you get their names and contact information, you can always send other promotional email messages to them and as such you’ll be giving yourself an opportunity to earn ongoing commissions instead of just a one-time sale.

Another tool you can employ is to publish an online newsletter or Ezine, since it is usually better to recommend a product to someone you know than to sell to a stranger, which explains the purpose behind publishing your own newsletter, a tool that allows you to develop a relationship based on trust with your subscribers.

This strategy of providing useful information without giving the impression that you are making a sales pitch is a delicate balance; but if you continue to write informative editorials you will be able to build a degree of reciprocity with your readers that might lead them to support you by buying the products you promote.

3. Ask for higher than normal commission from merchants. If you are already successful with a particular promotion, you should try to approach the merchant and negotiate the commission percentage that best represent you, your efforts and your sales.

If the merchant is smart, s/he will likely grant your request rather than lose a valuable asset in you. Keep in mind that you are a zero-risk investment to your merchant; so do not be shy about requesting an additional bonus or a boost in your commissions as long as you are reasonable with your request and in your negotiations.

Write strong pay Per Click ads. PPC search engine is the most effective method of advertising online. As an affiliate you can make a small income just by managing PPC campaigns such as Google AdWords and Overture. Then you should try and monitor them to see which ads are more effective and which ones to dispose of.

Try out these strategies and see the difference they can make to your commission checks in the short term; but you must remember to constantly enhance and update your affiliate toolkit, since your competition will be doing the same; and you obviously don’t want to out maneuvered due to your use of out-dated or ineffective marketing tools.
